Oh down in Burlingtown!

The other day I had to go to Burlington and I realized I had never actually been to old downtown Burlington so I decided to take a little detour and see what there was to see. Old downtown Burlington reminds me of every other old southern town with all the old buildings and Cinemas and local retailers on Main st.  Unfortunately many of the stores had gone out of business due to the economic decline but also due to the fact that big chain retailers like Walmart had located nearby and most of the business has moved away from downtown. Nevertheless Burlington still hasn’t lost its charm. I found this really cool looking auto repair shop near downtown that looks like it was built in the 1950s and had been out of business about 30 years. There was also a local furniture store nearby with a cool neon sign but it too is going out of business, a sign of the times. Still Burlington has made an effort to reclaim its downtown area. The nearby train depot has been restored and plays host to office space and historical center.
